KOR: Defending champions have fallen – Gasparini brings down Skywalkers, Nešović downs Altos

Incheon Korean Air Jambos VC went on 6-6 in the Korean Men’s Volleyball V-League after beating defending champions Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers at home.

The Slovenian opposite Mitja Gasparini poured down 36 points in Jumbos’ 3-2 over titleholders Skywalkers. Moon Sung-Min highlighted the losing side offensively with 18 points while Shin Yeong-Seok made an amazing blocking display – 9 kill blocks. Both teams remained at the very top of the standings – the Skywalkers are at No.2 with 6-5 and 19 points, while the Jumbos have a 6-6 record and 18 points to hold on to the third place.

The Women’s V-league defending champions also have fallen today. Hwaseong Industrial Bank of Korea Altos lost to Gimcheon Korea Expressway Corporation Hi-pass, who remained unbeaten for the third game in a row, in straight sets. The Serbian opposite Ivana Nešović topped the winners with 26 points. An American Madison Kingdon Rishel made 23 points for Altos, who are at No.4 with 5-5 and 15 points. As for Hi-pass, they are the second-placed with 6-4 and 20 points.
