WCHY M: Poles claim second victory in three sets

Poland claimed its second victory in Pool A of the FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship defeating a resilient hosts Mexico at Baja California High Performance Center Gymnasium on Friday night. Bartosz Bucko, Aleksander Sliwka, Rafal Szymura, Ivan Molano, Enrique Ugalde and Ariel Acosta were the top scorers.

The Poles played as a dominant force in the first set only to see a relentless Mexico reacting to battle point by point the rest of the match.

Poland’s captain Bartosz Bucko was the top scorer of the match with 21 points to be the only with double digits. Aleksander Sliwka finished with 9, including three blocks, and Rafal Szymura had two blocks and totaled 7 points.

Ivan Molano finished with 7 points for the local team while Enrique Ugalde and Ariel Acosta each scored six tallies.

The winners registered 11 blocks to 7 of the losing team. Both sides served only two aces each but Poland scored with 41 spikes against 26 by Mexico.
