Chile’s Women’s U23 volleyball team powered their way into the semifinals of the Pan American Cup after a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Peru (21-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-19) . Petra Schwartzman, opposite of Chile, delivered a stunning 33-point performance, driving her team’s success.
Chile dominated in key aspects of the game, leading in attacks (59-46), blocks (11-5), and serves (7-5), though they gave away more points through errors (27-19). Alongside Schwartzman’s impressive contributions, teammates Dominga Aylwin and María Nielsen added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Chile now faces a tough challenge in the semifinals against defending champions, the Dominican Republic.
Cuba Secures Semifinal Spot with Dominant Win Over Nicaragua
Cuba cruised past Nicaragua with a straight-set win (25-17, 26-24, 25-16) in the quarterfinals of the Women’s U23 Pan American Cup. Despite facing resistance in the second set, Cuba’s superior blocking (15-3) and steady attacks (33-30) led them to victory.
Cuban standout Alejandra Gómez topped the scoreboards with 15 points, while Brittany Forbes led Nicaragua with 14. Cuba will now face Mexico in the semifinals.
