PUR M: Ruiz elected MVP in men’s League

Juan Miguel Ruiz, the setter of San Juan Patriots, bécame the fifth player of his position to be elected as Most Valuable Player in the Puerto Rican Men’s Volleyball Superior League.

Ruiz was a key piece for San Juan as the team finished in second place during the regular series. He also was named as Setter of the Year as part of the All-Star Team for the 2016-17 men’s season.

In the voting for the MVP award, Ruiz edged Egardo Goas of Mayaguez and Jeff Plak of San Sebastian.

He received 20 of 36 first place votes and finished with 126 points. Goas got nine first-place votes and 69 points and Plak finisged with 68 points and two first-place mentions.
