The Guaynabo Mets swept San Sebastian Caribs to claim the best-of-seven Honda Cup Final Series of the Puerto Rican Men’s Volleyball Superior League.

Playing before 4,362 spectators at Mario “Quijote” Morales Coliseum, the Mets beat Caribs in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-19) to win the men’s crown for second consecutive year.

It is the fourth title for Guaynabo in the history of the league and the second in a row playing without reinforcement players.

For the first time in the series, Guaynabo won the first set of the match and continued to roll with good blocking and the attack of Pablo Guzman, who finished with 19 points.

Setter Angel Perez was named the Most Valuable Player of the Final Series for second time in his career. He won his first award in 2006 with Changos of Naranjito.

San Sebastian had to play without the services of American Jeff Ptak who retired from volleyball due to injury.
