Gaila Gonzalez finished the last match of the regular season with 20 points and surpassed Lisvel Eve for the scoring title of the Women’s National District Volleyball Tournament.
Gonzalez who plays for Cristo Rey finished with 165 points while Eve of Caribeñas with 159 points. Prisilla Rivera also from Caribeñas finished in third place with 150 points.
Eve and Rivera finished first and second as best spikers with 37.89 and 37.64 percentage of effectiveness while Gonzalez was third with 36.32.
Gonzalez was also the best server with 16 aces followed by Jeoselyna Rodriguez of Guerreras with 9 and Rivera with 8.
Annerys Vargas Valdez of Caribeñas and Marifranchi Rodriguez of Cristo Rey were the two best blockers of the preliminary phase with 40 and 35, respectively.
Camil Domínguez of Caribeñas edged Yocaty Perez of Cristo Rey for the best setter title with an average of 2.21 to 2.06 per set.
Brenda Castillo of Cristo Rey took home the titles as the best digger, best receiver and best libero. She had 4.43 digs per set, was effective in 51.65 percentage of receptions and 7.26 per set as libero.
Caribeñas are the winners f the regular season and they directly qualified to the final. In the semifinal, Cristo Rey and Guerreras already played their first match and the Rey claimed the victory 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-23). Gaila Gonzalez again was the best scorer of the winning team with 17 points.
