In Game 5 of the 2018/19 Edymax extraliga playoff final, the top seed VK Prievidza (16-2, 47 points in the regular season; 20-4, 60 points in Top 4) beat No.2 seed VK KDS-Šport Košice in straight sets, partially 26-24, 25-21, 25-16, to win the series by a 4-1. Thus, Prievidza won a back-to-back championship title with these two trophies being the only ones for the club in the history of the national league.
Interestingly, Prievidza suffered three out of four defeats in the entire regular season exactly to the rivals in the playoff finals, Košice, two of which in the Top 4 stage.
Peter Mlynarčík and Jakub Ihnát scored 10 points apiece in Game 4 for Prievidza. Martin Sopko ml. noted 13 pints for Košice.
