The top seed VfB Friedrichshafen won the first match of the 2018/19 1. Bundesliga Männer playoff finals against the No.3 seed Berlin Recycling Volleys, at home, by a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-17).
The visiting side was on a high level only in the second set of the best-of-five series opener which was far from enough to extend a duel to at least one or more sets. BR Volleys will have a chance to show themselves in a better light in front of own crowd at the Max-Schmeling-Halle, on May 2.
The Pole Bartłomiej Bołądź top-scored for Friedrichshafen with 18 points. Philipp Collin set up four kill blocks. The Frenchman Samuele Tuia notched 11 points for BR Volleys.
