After defeating the No.2 seed Örebro in Game 3 of the 2018/19 Elitserien playoff finals in straight sets, partially 25-14, 25-14 and 25-20, the top seed Engelholm won the fifth straight national title.
Engelholm, who did not suffer a single defeat before the playoffs (19-0, 55 points in the regular season and 4-0, 22 points in Top 5), struggled against Örebro only in Game 1 in which they prevailed in the tie-break. Game 2 and Game 3 were both a one-way street for the five-time consecutive titleholders of Sweden – 3-0 each.
The Canadian outside hitter Sophie Carpentier top-scored for Engelholm in the third match of the playoff finals with 17 points. American Carly DeHoog, who spent her first professional season after leaving the University of Washington Huskies, was the best scorer for Örebro with 17 points as well.
In addition to Elitserien title, Engelholm claimed the Grand Prix title (a traditional tournament in which the four best teams after the half of Elitserien participate) in January.
2018/19 Elitserien playoff finals – Game 3:
(1) Engelholm – (2) Örebro 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-20), series 3-0
