France joined pool winners Russia, Portugal, Romania and Greece who advanced to the continental championship on Friday and Saturday. They have beaten Pool C hosts Ukraine in Zaporizhia in straight sets, partially 25-19, 29-27, 25-20, in a direct duel for the top spot. Nathan Canovas top-scored for France with 22 points.
Belarus beat Austria in Pool E (Herceg Novi, Montenegro) by a 3-0 (25-13, 29-27, 25-23) to book their ticket to the Finals as the best second-placed side. Aliaksei Ilkevich scored 20 points (4 kill blocks) for Belarus, who qualified to EuroVolley thanks to a better set-ratio than Slovenia who finished runners-up in Pool D. Both had 7 points on their account.
