Serbia, Romania, Netherlands, France and Germany secure berths for Women’s EuroVolley U16

Last weekend, the women’s national teams in the age category under 16 played the second round matches for advancing to the 2019 CEV U16 Volleyball European Championship - Women which will be held on July 13-21 in Italy and Croatia.

On Saturday, three teams have secured their berths in the continental championship taking place this summer by claiming top spots in their respective pools: Serbia, Romania and the Netherlands, while France and Germany did the same on Sunday.

Pool A hosts Serbia defeated Hungary by a 3-1 (25-21, 16-25, 25-16, 25-20) in the city of Ub thanks to 26 points (4 aces) from Stefana Pakić. Romania, Pool C hosts, prevailed over Slovakia in Ploiești in four sets with 17 points from Denisa-Ştefania Cheluţă. As for the Netherlands, they defeated Denmark in Stara Zagora (Bulgaria) by a 3-0 in Pool E with 10 points from Nicole van de Vosse.

Two spots for the continental championship remained vacant for Sunday’s clashes and they were filled by France and Germany. France’s crucial victory in Pool D for qualifying to the EuroVolley Finals came against Estonia. In Zaporizhia (Ukraine), France won in straight sets 25-22, 25-21, 25-21 thanks to 15 points (4 kill blocks) from Vaiteani Vaki. Germany disappointed Pool B hosts Poland, beating them in four sets in the city of Twardogóra, partially 25-16, 25-12, 15-25, 25-20. Celine Jebens top-scored for Germany with 20 points (3 aces).

Belarus – Bulgaria 2-3 (25-22, 18-25, 22-25, 25-16, 9-15)
