KOR W: Tryout on – Diouf fights for her place in V League, Hyundai and Altos renew with foreigners

Tryout

This year’s Women’s V League tryout was held at the Goldring Centre for High Performance in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for which 34 foreign players applied.

Prior to the tryout, the two of six teams that will play the 2019/20 V League season decided to keep their foreigners from the last season. Hyundai Engineering & Construction Hillstate renewed with the Spanish opposite hitter Milagros Collar, while IBK Industrial Bank Altos did the same with American opposite hitter Adora Anae. The salary for both players will increase from $ 150,000 per season, which is a maximum in Korea for the first year of the contract, to $ 200,000.

Out of remaining 32 players that applied for a tryout, 8 decided to give up in the last moment. There are several big names, just like each year, among players fighting for their place in the Korean top division: Italian opposite hitter Valentina Diouf, Argentinean opposite hitter Lucía Fresco, Cuban opposite hitter Dayami Sánchez
