The trip of Mexico national team delegation to Russia for the Olympic qualifying tournament (Pool E) did not end as expected. After starting their journey from Monterrey to Mexico City and on to Frankfurt, the national team of Mexico landed to Saint Petersburg but could not settle in a hotel which they thought they booked before departing to the final destination – Kaliningrad.
Upon arriving at the hotel where they should be staying, they were informed at the reception that there were no reservations made for them, Marca reported. Not only that, but there were no vacant rooms as well.
The Mexican delegation is still waiting for a resolution on the matter from the country’s Volleyball federation (FMV) who is responsible for the trip of the national team to Russia.
Mexico will play their first match in the Tokyo Olympics Qualifier tomorrow at 19:00 C.E.T. against the hosts Russia. The remaining 2 teams in Pool E are South Korea and Canada.
