The night before the semifinal encounter against Poland, Slovenia’s backup setter Gregor Ropret underwent urgent appendectomy and that was the reason why he was not on the roster for the match which his team sensationally won.
Knowing that recovery after the surgical removal of the appendix lasts for, at least, one week, Gregor Ropret will not be able to help Slovenia in the final. This means that Dejan Vinčić remains the only setter in the team.
Gregor Ropret is the son of the country’s volleyball federation President, Metod Ropret.
