At the moment, the Thai female volleyball star Nootsara Tomkom has devoted her professional career to only one goal – to help her national team earn the spot at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

According to the Thailand Volleyball Twitter page, the country’s most popular female player Nootsara has turned down offers to play abroad for the 2nd consecutive season. The reason for such a decision of the Thailand National Team captain was to get ready for the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament whose host is exactly Thailand and which will start on January 7. Changing the course of a career in this way isn’t an isolated case in Asian volleyball as the Chinese superstar Zhu Ting did a similar thing by moving from VakıfBank, Turkey, to Tianjin last summer.

Last season, a 3-time FIVB Volleyball Nations League and Asian Championship Best Setter as well as the one-time CEV Champions League Best Setter, Nootsara, played with Nakhon Ratchasima VC. It’s still unknown for what club she will compete in the next Thai Championship which sets off after the Olympic Qualifications, more precisely on January 19.
