In the single-match final of the 2019/20 V.League Division 1 Women, held in front of the 4,499 spectators at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, the Marvelous (No.1 in Pool B in Top 8) beat surprising gold medal contender Seagulls (No.2 in Pool B) by 3-2 (25-22, 24-26, 23-25, 25-14, 15-7). Thus, the team from Nishinomiya won their second championship ever the first after 9 years.

The best U.S. female volleyball player in 2019, Andrea Drews, shone in the final with 36 points (named MVP of the league), while prospect Kotona Hayashi added 23. Sanae Watanabe scored 21 points for the Seagulls, who were one of the 2 teams that had no foreign players in their roster (the other one was Hitachi Rivale) this season, which makes winning the silver medal a huge result.
