The no.2 Heungkuk Life Insurance Pink Spiders beat 3rd-seed IBK Industrial Bank Altos at home by a 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 25-21) in Game 1 of the 2020/21 Korean Women’s Dodram V-League playoff semifinals (best-of-3). The all-time postseason statistics go in favor of the reigning champions. Out of the total of 15 playoffs (from 2005 till now), all the teams that won the first match in the semis managed to advance to the title battle.
Kim Yeon-Koung led Pink Spiders with 29 points, becoming the third player in the history of the women’s V-League, after Dominican Bethania De La Cruz and Park Jeong-Ah, to score 500 points or more in the playoffs. With today’s match, Kim collected 515 points. Russian Anna Lazareva notched 27 points for Altos.
The GS Caltex KIXX, who won the regular season, await the winners of the Pink Spiders vs Altos face-off, in the finals.
