For the 15th time in 28 participations in the finals, Al Rayyan won the prestigious Qatar men’s volleyball tournament, the Emir Cup, held at the Qatar Volleyball Federation sports hall.
This was also the 17th final of the Emir Cup between the two teams, and so far the result for Al Arabi is 11-6.
Led by French volleyball star Stephen Boyer, who tallied 31 points (61% attack, 4 block points), Al Rayyan SC defeated Al Arabi SC by a 3-2 (27-29, 25-18, 28-26, 23-25, 15-11) to seize the gold medal. Brazilian Marcus Vinícius De Souza added 20 points (57% attack, 3 block points, 60 reception). Another Brazilian, Geraldo Goiano, scored 28 points (50% attack, 1 ace, 2 block points), while Bulgarian Rozalin Penchev scored 20 (50% attack, 3 block points, 31% reception) for Al Arabi.
