The 6th-seed VERVA Warszawa ORLEN Paliwa was the most pleasant surprise in the playoffs of the 2020/21 Polish Men’s PlusLiga but their journey ended in the semifinals. Regular season vice-champions Jastrzębski Węgiel were the ones to do that, beating the club from the country’s capital by a 3-1 (27-29, 29-27, 25-20, 26-24) in Game 2 of the series (2-0) and advancing to their first championship face-off in 11 years.
Jakub Bucki highlighted the ‘Hawks’ with 21 points, while Frenchman Yacine Louati made 74 % reception (19 digs, 58 % perfect).
The 4th-seed PGE Skra Bełchatów played on all or nothing in Game 2 against titleholders and top-seed Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and it paid them off. The 9-time champions prevailed in 4 sets and tied the series at 1-1. Serbian Dušan Petković top-scored Skra with 22 points (4 aces).
