BUL W: Maritza win 7th championship title in row, extend winning streak to 117 games

Maritza Plovdiv defended the women’s volleyball championship title in Bulgaria.

For the 7th time in a row, Maritza Plovdiv became the women’s national champions of Bulgaria.

The ‘Yellow-Blues’ lifted the trophy after closing the series of the playoff finals of the 2020/21 Demax Liga with 2-0. The girls coached by Lazar Lazarov, the regular-season winners, beat 3rd-seed Kazanlak Volley with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-14) in Game 2 and extended the winning streak in the competition to 117 wins! The unbeaten series of Maritza started on November 21, 2015.

Miroslava Paskova top-score the Plovdiv side in a decisive game with 17 points. With 7 trophies in the national championship, Maritza rank 3rd in the all-time list, behind Levski Sofia (28) and CSKA Sofia (22).
