The donation of the SportCourt floor forms part of the development programme of NORCECA who for the past few years has been distributing indoor floors and outdoor playing surfaces to its national federations, especially those in the category I and II.
The National Gymnasium of Costa Rica, 3,200-seat facility, will host the volleyball competitions of the Games from March 9-16. The seven countries of Central America will take part in the double-gender tournament.
“We are very grateful to NORCECA and its president Cristobal Marte Hoffiz as we receive this floor to complete the integral refurbishment of the gymnasium,” Jose Luis Jimenez, president of Costa Rica National Federation, said. “The players of our national programmes at the different levels will benefit of better training conditions now.”
“Athletes are the most important part of the structure of our sport so we must find solutions to offer them the best conditions to train and perform,” Marte Hoffiz said. “In absence of an optimum playing surface they can’t develop their skills and that’s the reason of our programme of donations now in its fourth year.”
Since 2009, Sport Court has been the official playing surface for all the competitions organized by NORCECA Volleyball Confederation. In 2010, during the Congress in Rome, Italy, Sport Court and FIVB signed a Partner in Development agreement.
