The competition will take place as a single round robin from September 26 through 28 with BURSA BBSK, Dinamo Romprest BUCURESTI, Iraklis THESSALONIKI and the home heroines of Maritza playing each other once at the Olimpiada sports hall to determine the second holder of the trophy.
All four participating teams come from the top six of the final ranking in their 2012-2013 domestic leagues with Dinamo and Bursa joining the upcoming edition of the European Cups – the 2014 CEV Volleyball Champions League and the 2014 CEV Volleyball Cup respectively.
”We are happy to start turning this tournament into a tradition,” Maritza manager Boris Halachev says. ”I expect that our guests visiting us from all over the Balkans, along with our team, of course, will entertain the volleyball fans in Plovdiv with some high-class performance. We continue to work towards creating a Balkan volleyball league in the future and hope that our tournament will contribute to creating the necessary conditions for that. We will also take this opportunity to hold the official season-launcher presentation of the Maritza squad in front of our fans between the two games on Friday afternoon.”
