AWCHQ W: Chenzhou ready for strong Tournament

Following the successful organisation of the Pool C competition of the Asian Men’s Qualification Tournament, Chenzhou, China’s volleyball city, is ready to host the Pool B competition of Asian Women’s Qualification Tournament, which will be held from September 27 to October 1.

The first Control Committee and the Organising Committee joint meeting was held this morning with Mr. Nguyen Ba Nghi (Technical Delegate), Mr. Chang Chin Jong (Referee Delegate), Mr. Cai Yi (CVA Vice Secretary General), Mr. Li Ting (Vice Mayor of Chenzhou) and other heads of the Organising Committee departments in attendance.

The Organising Committee reported on their preparations during the meeting. “Chenzhou was the training base for the China’s women’s volleyball team before their five successive titles. As the organiser, we will try our best to provide first class service, facilities and support so as to present a fully successful event,” said Mr. Li Ting.

In the Asian Women’s Final Qualification Tournament, the 10 teams are divided into two pools of five teams. The two best-ranked teams in each pool (total of four teams) will advance to next year’s FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championships, which will be held from September 23 to October 12, 2014 in Italy. 

Japan and Thailand have qualified for the Championship from the Pool A competition, which was held in Komaki, Japan from September 4 to 8.

Pool B comprises China (host), KoreaKazakhstanNew Zealand and India, who will vie for the remaining two places attributed to the AVC for the World Championships.
