ŁÓDŹ, POLAND — No one could stop them—not even Brazil.

Italy’s women’s national team sealed a brilliant and unbeaten run through the 2025 Volleyball Nations League, downing Brazil 3-1 in a gripping final in Łódź. It wasn’t just a win—it was the perfect ending to a campaign that never saw them falter.
The match started with tension as Brazil stole the opening set 25-22, forcing Italy to reset. But from there, it was all Azzurre. With the calm authority of coach Julio Velasco guiding them, the Italians surged back, capturing the next three sets 25-18, 25-22, and 25-22.
This win marks Italy’s third VNL title in just four years. But what sets this one apart is the perfect record—15 matches, 15 victories. Add in their 2024 results, and Italy is now riding a 29-match winning streak across all official competitions.
Star opposite Paola Egonu got the offense going, while Ekaterina Antropova stepped in with match-turning impact, especially in the later sets. Captain Anna Danesi controlled the net, and Monica De Gennaro was her usual brilliant self on defense.
The team didn’t waver, even after outside hitter Alice Degradi suffered an injury. Substitute Stella Nervini filled the gap seamlessly, showcasing Italy’s depth and resilience.
On the Brazilian side, coach Ze Roberto fielded a strong squad, but despite flashes of excellence, they couldn’t withstand Italy’s relentless pace and precision. From solid blocking to flawless transitions, the Italians dictated play when it mattered most.
One thing is clear: this team isn’t just winning—they’re rewriting the standard for excellence in women’s volleyball.
