Spanish expert Fernando Muñoz Benítez is set to return to the European volleyball scene! The Spanish coach has been appointed head coach of HAOK Mladost Zagreb, Croatia’s most successful volleyball club.
Muñoz brings extensive international experience to the Croatian club. He most recently served as head coach of Al Ahly in Egypt, a one of the leading team in African volleyball. Prior to that, he led Dinamo Bucuresti in Romania and the women’s team Feel Volley Alcobendas in Spain during the 2021/2022 season. In 2021, he also took on a short-term role with the Belgian national team. He also serves as the head coach of the Egypt men’s national team.
From 2011 to 2019, Muñoz was the head coach of the Spain Men’s National Team, a period that helped establish his reputation in European volleyball. During his time with Olympiacos S.F.P. in Greece, he won both the national championship and cup in 2018 and 2019, and was named Best Coach of the League in 2019.
His coaching career also includes multiple titles with Unicaja Costa de Almería in Spain, a league and cup win with Arkas Spor in Turkey, and victory in the 2009 CEV Challenge Cup with the same Turkish club.
