However, after finishing second in the last edition of the Czech national league, Jihostroj could strengthen their roster by signing 23-year old wing-spiker Jan Kuliha and Slovak libero Robert Hupka, who recently competed at the 2013 CEV VELUX EuroVolley in Poland and Denmark.

“We do not have as many stars as last year but we will show the same fighting spirit” says club President Jan Divis. Though he recently suffered an injury during one of the training sessions, middle-blocker Radek Mach shall be fit again for the start of the season. In the lead-up Jihostroj has been playing friendly matches with Czech, Austrian, German and French teams. “We believe that our preparations have gone quite well and we would like to show this in our first game for the prelims of the 2014 CEV Volleyball Champions League where we are set to play Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA of Montenegro” says head coach Jan Svoboda. Waiting for this game scheduled for October 24 in Budva, Jihostroj will first debut in the Czech Extraleague on October 19.
