Jiangsu joined Tianjin in the title face-off in the 2021/22 Chinese Women’s Volleyball Championship.
It seems unbelievable that a team having the two world’s volleyball stars, such are Jordan Larson and Kim Yeon-Koung, failed to reach the playoff finals of the 2021/22 Women’s Super League, but that’s exactly what happened. Shanghai (No.2) were eliminated by Jiangsu (No.3) in the semi-finals, paying the price of introducing a new rule of the national federation, just before the start of the championship, to reduce the number of foreign players on the court at the same time to one. So, the Shanghai head coach Wang Zhiteng had to balance the number of minutes these two big names of the international volleyball could spend in the play during the season.
Jiangsu could’ve finished the job in Game 2, however, they redeemed in Game 3 and took the series 2-1. Wu Han was the top scorer on the winning side today with 16 points, making 80% reception (20 digs, 1 error, 60% perfect), while Yang Jia set up 5 blocks. This way, Jiangsu and Tianjin will face for the title for the second season in a row. The latter is the titleholder, sweeping their semi-final series.
