Tianjin skipped the penultimate obstacle toward defending the title in the Chinese Women’s Volleyball Championship with ease.
Achieving the 15th win in a row (not a single defeat) in the 2021/22 Women’s Super League, Tianjin secured the place in the playoff finals. Thanks to Melissa Vargas (25 points) and Wang Yuanyuan (six blocks), the reigning champions and top-seed swept No.4 Liaoning in Game 2 of the semi-finals, just like in Game 1, and now await their rivals in the title battle.
In the second game of the other semi-final face-off, No.2 Shanghai got off the ropes against No.3 Jiangsu after trailing in sets 0-2 to tie the series at 1-1.
