Naz Aydemir Akyol said goodbye to the Turkey Women’s Volleyball National Team.
After 17 years of wearing the Turkey Women jersey both in the base and senior category, Naz said goodbye to the national team. The 31-year-old setter, one of the most important names of the Turkish volleyball ever, didn’t specify the reasons for retiring from the competition at the international level when posting her decision on social media:
“With only a few minutes left until 2022, I wanted to share with you some information about my own sports life. It’s time to say goodbye to my national jersey, which I’ve been wearing with great pride since 2004, and to my federation presidents and officials, the technical team, medical team, and teammates with whom I had the opportunity to work for 17 years, to my teammates with whom I wore the jersey with pride,” Naz wrote.
During her senior career, she won 11 medals, 2 of which were gold medals: in the CEV European Games and Montreux Volley Masters. Naz was named Best Setter in the latter.
