Ana Cleger and Dobriana Rabadzhieva will continue their careers in the Chinese women’s volleyball side of Shandong.
For the first time in their history, Shandong will start the next Chinese Super League with a foreign player on the roster. Actually, they’ll have not one but two foreigners registered for 2022-23. The Laiwu side has already concluded negotiations for the arrival of Cuban opposite hitter Ana Cleger and Bulgarian outside hitter Dobriana Rabadzhieva.
As for a 32-year-old Cleger, the Best Opposite Spiker of the 2018 CEV Champions League, she returned to the courts last season with Poland’s Grot Budowlani Łódź after a year of maternity leave. Rabadzhieva, who just turned 31, has come to Shandong following a season she spent in two clubs. The three-time consecutive Best Receiver of the Champions League (between 2017 and 2019) began 2021-22 in Turkey, at Türk Hava Yolları, and continued in Italy, in the jersey of Acqua & Sapone Roma Volley Club.
