The Serbia Women’s Volleyball National Team set off their preparations for the FIVB World Championship, which will take place in the Netherlands and Poland from September 23 to October 15, without one long-time member.
The Italian Daniele Santarelli, the head coach of the Serbia National Team, invited 17 players to the preparations for the next World Championship among which one important name, a long-time member, is missing. The legendary setter, now veteran, Maja Ognjenović isn’t on Santarelli’s list. One of the best players in her role (still) in the world, as it seems, still has doubts in regard to participating in the event in which her team has the goal to defend the title. She was also not on the roster for any of the weeks in the 2022 FIVB VNL.
“I’ll talk with Maja in the next few days and I really don’t know what the outcome of that conversation will be,” the Italian expert stated.
Silvija Popović, the starter for Serbia Women in the libero’s position for many years, requester a break this summer, as per Santarelli.
