The long-time member of the women’s volleyball national team of the Netherlands, Kirsten Knip, is disappointed with the fact that her services weren’t taken into account for the 2022 FIVB World Championship.
Knip is missing from the Dutch National Team that will take part in the World Championship in their own country (also in Poland) in more than two weeks. Although the final selection of Avital Selinger isn’t yet known, the country’s federation reported that the head coach has made his choice in regard to liberos that will play in the event: Myrthe Schoot and Florien Reesink. Knip felt disappointed that she was no longer part of the group preparing for the World Champs and openly criticized on social media the treatment she got from the national team.
“Man, this hurts so much. I’ve managed to keep myself pretty big the whole time, I thought to myself: I’m going to do everything I can to be there during that World Championship. Despite the fact that I was completely kept away from the team from the start and was only allowed to train with girls who were also not part of the selection, I didn’t want to give up.”
The 30-year-old player added that it pained her to suddenly no longer be considered important for the team after 10 years of full commitment.
Knip made her debut for the national team in 2012. She wasn’t selected for an international match this season.
