Men’s national champions General Service Unit (GSU) and women’s title-holders Kenya Prisons, who are both preparing for this year’s African Clubs Championships, displayed form and experience to record encouraging victories in each competition.
GSU beat Kakamega Prisons 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-12) in their match, needing just 56 minutes to seal victory.
African women’s queens Kenya Prisons were forced to work hard for their win however, eventually holding off the ever-improving Nairobi Water 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-10) in a two-hour thriller.
Debutants Talent Academy also began on a high, beating Ulinzi 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-17) in the other women’s match.
