BUL M: Dramatic Turnaround – Francesco Cadedu Stays as Deya Volley Coach After Brief Resignation

by WoV

This weekend in Bulgarian volleyball was marked not by the games themselves but by the public resignations and their swift withdrawal. Following the match between the league leader Deya Volley Burgas and Beroe 2016 Stara Zagora, Francesco Cadedu, the head coach of Deya Volley, shifted the focus from the game to a dramatic personal announcement. He publicly resigned, stating the match was his last, citing a lack of respect from his players as the reason. This declaration was perceived as definitive, leaving no room for doubt about his departure.

However, in a surprising turn of events less than 24 hours later, Deya Volley Burgas announced they had reached an agreement with Cadedu, ensuring he would remain with the team until at least the end of the season. The club and coach are committed to continuing their journey towards claiming the Bulgarian championship.

This development raises questions about internal team dynamics, especially following a cryptic social media post by key player Valentin Bratoev, hinting at behind-the-scenes negotiations: “Breathe easy, Senor Cadedu stays, the PR trick worked. Made a compromise with the terrible twins and decided to stay another two or three years because it’s bad here.”

Despite yesterday’s tensions, a meeting between the team, Cadedu, and club president Dr. Alexander Madzhirov has reportedly resolved the misunderstandings. The club’s statement reflects a positive outlook, emphasizing unity and renewed focus on winning the Super League after their Bulgarian Cup victory, despite the emotional rollercoaster experienced by men team.
