In a thrilling final held in Koper, the volleyball team Nova KBM Branik mounted a remarkable comeback to defend their title as Slovenian Cup winners, overcoming Calcit Volley with a dramatic 3-2 victory (25-27,13-25, 25-21, 28-26, 15-7). Despite starting with a two-set deficit, Branik flipped the script to clinch their milestone 20th Slovenian Cup title.

Against the odds, the Maribor-based team, which had struggled in season play against Calcit Volley, showcased resilience and strategic brilliance. “We are very proud to have reached the twentieth title,” exclaimed Branik’s coach Žiga Kos, highlighting the unpredictability of cup matches and the importance of never ceasing to believe in victory. Captain Iza Mlakar credited their recent form and the decisive win in the third set as pivotal moments that spurred the team to victory.

This win was particularly surprising given Branik’s season performance against Calcit Volley, where they failed to win a single set in six matches. However, in the final, their comeback from a 2:0 deficit underlined the unpredictability of cup competitions and the team’s unwavering spirit.
