ACH Volley Ljubljana announced the immediate termination of its contract with player Danijel Koncilja following a positive doping test.
The test, conducted after a cup match in Maribor on March 6th, detected THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the active ingredient in marijuana. Koncilja, who informed the club’s management about the test result himself, is also known for his contributions to the Slovenian national team, including earning a silver medal in Sofia in 2015 and a bronze in Rome last year. ACH Volley stated their zero-tolerance policy towards doping, emphasizing their decision to distance themselves from this incident and conclude the season without Koncilja’s participation.
