Odense Volley is on the brink of securing a historic third consecutive Danish championship title after a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Gentofte Volley in Game 2 of the final series last night.The match didn’t start in Odense’s favor. The home side looked sluggish in the opening set, and Gentofte’s Bisgaard and Brinck capitalized on the early momentum. With strong serving pressure, Gentofte managed to claim the first set 21-25. Odense responded in the second set with more composure and fewer errors. Sigurd Varming and Marius Stenmann led the charge, and the hosts leveled the match convincingly, taking the set 25-18.
Set three delivered high drama as Gentofte let a commanding 20-24 lead slip away. In crunch time, Hjorth and Varming stepped up as clinical finishers, guiding Odense to a stunning 27-25 comeback win.
From that point on, the momentum was all Odense’s. Despite Gentofte’s attempts to stay in the match, the fourth set saw the defending champions impose their dominance. The victory never looked in doubt as Odense closed out the match and now holds a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five final series.
Nordenskov clinches bronze in style
In the battle for third place, Nordenskov made quick work of ASV Elite in a best-of-three series, sweeping both matches 3-0. Captain Mitchell Newman led by example and delivered a standout performance in front of a large and enthusiastic home crowd. The evening was made even more special as club legend Søren Gregersen was honored for his illustrious career, marking an emotional farewell.
