Australia were hoping to carry on the momentum from its big finish against Brazil on Saturday night, but after sticking with the visitors for the first set and much of the second, the class of the South Americans shone through in the third. Brazil took the opportunity to give most of their players court time.

Brazilian captain Bruno Rezende: “It’s very important we improve every meeting. We have not just six players who can play, but 14 or 16. This maybe makes the difference.

Australian captain Thomas Edgar:Brazil were good teachers this weekend. They taught us a good lesson. I’m pretty shattered with the way we played today, but we will grow. I really want to finish off with two wins next weekend against Serbia in Melbourne next weekend.
