IRN M: Wonder makers Ardakan down Marouf’s Urmia, Sarmayeh’s run continues (VIDEO)

The most thrilling game of the 18th week of Iran’s Super League was played in Arkadan where the hosts Ardakan Arman downed powerful opponents, Shahrdari Urmia VC 3-2 (25-17, 12-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-12).

Before this game, Urmia occupied the second place on the table and, despite expectations of many experts, were beaten by devoted Ardakan players in front of their fiery fans. Defensive skills and objections to the referee were very high from both teams.

This game had a wonderful detail. Ardakan spectators gifted wreath of flowers to Urmia captain Saeid Marouf and hung it around his neck.

Farhad Piroutpour from Urmia was the best scorer of the match with 23 points. Babak Amiri had 19 in home team.

Sarmayeh Bank firmly stay on the top of the standings after away straight-set win in Bandar Abbas against underdogs Aluminium Al-Mahdi Hormozgan 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-20). Mostafa Karkhaneh, the experienced coach of Sarmayeh, did not want to risk and started game with his main players. When he was sure that victory (12th in a row) was definite, he send substitutions on the court.

Third-placed Paykan Tehran defeated guest team of Shahrdari Tabriz 3-1(25-16, 21-25, 25-21, 25-20). Amir Ghafour from Paykan with 18 points and Mikaeil Tajer from Tabriz with 15 points were the most efficient players of the match.

The game between hosts Saipa Alborz VC and Shahrdari Zahedan VC was postponed. According to announcement of the league organization, visitors could not arrive to Tehran on time due to flight safety matters.
