CHALLENGE CUP W: Bucureşti make historic success for Romania’s volleyball by going to finals

Romanian representatives C.S.M. Bucureşti claimed a historic qualification for the CEV Challenge Cup finals.

Not only that they became the first ever Romanian women’s team to contest in a final of some European Cup, but Bucureşti also eliminated current title holders, Bursa BBSK 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-14). They won the first leg as well, 3-1.

Roxana Denisa Bacşiş was usntoppable in București with 26 points while Serbian Jelena Nikolić had 10 in Bursa.

In other semifinals, we have seen another surprise as Turkish İdmanocağı Trabzon achieved straigh-set win over Russian favorites Zarechie Odintsovo after winning 3-2 in the first leg.

Finals against București will be the first ever European final for İdmanocağı as well. They participatad at European stage this season for the first time in club history.
