In Group 1 – Pool A match of the second round, „Team Yavbou“ swept Australia away in front of their fans in Sydney 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-21).
France’s head coach Laurent Tillie replaced entire line-up from the first match in the tournament against Italy and showed the rest of the world he has 14 equal players to confront everyone.
In the absence of Grebennikov, Rouzier, Le Roux and other stars, Thibault Rossard topped French scorers with 16 points while Trévor Clévenot added 15. Lincoln Williams had eight in Australia.
Italy forgot all about yesterday’s defeat against France and smashed Belgium in straight sets, partially 25-15, 25-23, 25-21, also in Pool A. „Azzurri“ improved their reception and thus, had no problems with underdogs despite the fact Osmany Juantorena remained on the bench.
Luca Vettori collected 17 points as the best scorer of Italy. Gert van Walle had 13 in Belgium.
