New head coach Nicolás Vives, who replaced Rodolfo Sánchez after the sex scandal of six Cuba NT players in Finland during the 2016 FIVB World League, at the beginning of this month, crossed out these six players.
On the list for the Rio Olympics there are six players who returned from Finland and six new players which were not in even on a wide list for this year’s World League. Five of 12 Cubans for Rio are aged under 20.
Here is the list of the Cuba NT which will play in Rio: Javier Jiménez, Osniel Melgarejo, Liván Osoria, Javier Concepción, Adrián Goide, Yonder García (returned from Finalnd), Darien Ferrer, Osniel Rendón, Yosvany González, Mario Rivera, Reinier Rojas and Miguel Ángel.
