The home heroines of Slovenia scored their first win at the European qualifier in Maribor after cruising on Saturday to a speedy 3:0 win (25-11, 25-18, and 25-12) to edge Montenegro. With this result Slovenia remains in full contention to fight for a spot to make it to the final round of the 2013 European Champs.

France – Belgium

Slovenia started out very aggressively (8:2) and easily pocketed the opening set (25-11) before the hosts controlled the next couple of sets in a similar way. The result brought evidently much satisfaction to home head coach Oleg Gorbachov while the ladies from Montenegro will have to re-group and find the right motivation for their last match against France.

The other match of the day was extremely important to determine the final standings of the Pool and France eventually bested Belgium with the score of 3:1 (25-23, 25-18, 20-25, and 25-20). The first set turned into a real drama that France eventually cashed at 25-23 before asserting their supremacy in the second (25-18). Belgium fought back in set 3 but France could seal the final 3:1 after a real battle unfolded in set 4.

The last day of action will see Slovenia play Belgium while France will try to back up their first place in the group by taking on the still winless ladies from Montenegro.
