At the 2016 CEV U20 Men’s Volleyball European Championship in Varna and Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Poland kept their unbeaten record until the end (7-0). In the gold medal match, Polish team led by the head coach Sebastian Pawlik defeated Ukraine 3-1 (29-27, 25-21, 21-25, 25-12).

Thus, Poland junior national team repeated a success from 1996 Championship held in Netanya and Ra’anana (Israel) when they beat Italy. Future senior head coach Ireneusz Mazur was at the helm of that generation of the Polish players.

Cerrad Czarni Radom opposite Jakub Ziobrowski was the best scorer in the winnning team with 21 points. Lokomotiv Kharkiv duo Timofii Poluian and Oleh Plotnytskyi collected 12 points each in Ukraine.

In the match for the bronze medal, Russia prevailed over Italy 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-18).
