Vietnam’s offensive strategy to involve captain Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa was effective to help them take the upper hand against Iran. Iran’s Roosta Mina contributed 13 points to her team’s cause but was only able to steal a tight third set. Vietnam’s opening day win will be a good motivational drive against China on Tuesday, September 11.
Iranian coach Shabanian Mitra, nonetheless, appreciates her team’s performance. This loss to Vietnam is an appreciation of their match to prepare them for their next opponent Japan.
“We are pleased with our performance in the first match, it was interesting for us to compete with Vietnam,” Mitra said.
