The 2016/2017 Japanese champions Hisamitsu have 2 of 2 in Pool B in the 18th edition of the Asian Club Championship after they downed Chinese title holders from 2016, Tianjin, 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 14-25, 25-18) at „Boris Aleksandrov Sports Palace“. Previously, Hisamitsu beat Philippine Superliga team (competing instead of 2016 Philippine champions Foton Tornadoes) in straight sets, in Round 1. Yuka Imamura from Hisamitsu scored game-high 22 points against Tianjin.
In Pool A, there is another team in the tournament with flawless record so far – last season’s Thai champions Supreme Chonburi VC. In Round 2, they defeated hosts Altay VC after thrilling battle 3-2 (25-21, 25-19, 17-25, 21-25, 15-9). The best scorer of the winning team and also of the entire game was Chatchu-on Moksri, scoring 24 points. Earlier, Supreme downed 2016 Iranian title holders Sarmayeh Bank by y 3-1.
