Guadeloupe held a 5-2 margin in blocks and was also better in the aces department with a 5-1 advantage.
Loic Couchy topped Guadeloupe with 14 points followed by Alexandre Watson and Jordy Bihary wirh 11 and 10 points respectively. Shimoi Van Holten tallied 10 for the defeated side.
“We found the keys to win against U.S. Virgin Islands and we are happy with the victory”, Couchy said.
“We are happy to advance to the second round and this is going to be good for volleyball”, Guadeloupe’s coach Ismael Olivier said.
“Our physical condition was not good and the team was tired. We didn’t practice enough for this tournament but Guadeloupe played better than us”, U.S. Virgin Islands’ coach Mark Daniel said.
“We need to go back home and work on our mistakes,” Van Holten admitted.
