Bram van den Dries will carry a big burden on his shoulders in the 2019/20 season as he is projected to replace superstar Bartosz Kurek in ONICO. A 29-year-old Belgium national team opposite hitter is the new acquisition of the last season’s Plus Liga silver medalists, coming from the French side Rennes. Before joining ONICO, Van den Dries applied for the tryout in the Korean V League. He achieved the greatest success with Belgian national team, winning the gold medal in the 2013 CEV European League and being chosen MVP of the tournament.
The other “Red Dragon“ in ONICO is Igor Grobelny. A 26-year-old outside hitter of Polish origin spent the last season playing in Cuprum Lubin, ONICO’s rivals in Plus Liga. Igor is the son of Dariusz Grobelny, a former Poland national team member, and brother of Kaja Grobelna who, just like him, wears Belgium national team jersey.
