As Sport.pl found out, Kurek, who has been fighting a back injury in the last four months, will participate in Poland National Team training camp in Arłamów ahead of EuroVolley (September 13-29). The 30-year-old opposite hitter has spent the last several months recovering from a spinal injury due to which he missed out two important tournaments this season – the FIVB Nations League and International Olympic Qualifications.
Poland Men head coach Vital Heynen has not yet been announced the preliminary list of players for the continental championship revealed which 25 players will be in contention for participating in the 2019 FIVB World Cup (October 1-15). And Kurek is on the list, which might be a good signal that Belgian expert will count on him for EuroVolley. What is certainly a surprise, three big names will not play the World Cup: Dawid Konarski, Piotr Nowakowski and Bartosz Bednorz.
Setters: Fabian Drzyzga, Marcin Janusz, Marcin Komenda, Grzegorz Łomacz
Outside hitters: Tomasz Fornal, Michał Kubiak, Bartosz Kwolek, Wilfredo León Venero, Piotr Łukasik, Artur Szalpuk, Rafał Szymura, Aleksander Śliwka
Middle blockers: Mateusz Bieniek, Norbert Huber, Karol Kłos, Jakub Kochanowski, Bartłomiej Lemański, Michał Szalacha
