Asseco-Resovia

Asseco Resovia

This will be the seventh appearance for Asseco Resovia in the deciding stage of this competition in the last few years. The last couple of seasons Asseco Resovia was edged by PGE Skra BELCHATOW in the semis whereas three years ago RZESZOW played in the final but at the end lost a very exciting tie-break to JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel. In the legendary history of the club Resovia has seized the Polish Cup trophy three times but it was a long time ago, in 1975, in 1983 and 1987 for the last time. This season winning this prestigious trophy is definitely one of the main goals set by the club that will play for the final against Delecta BYDGOSZCZ whereas in the second semi Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE will test out the likes of JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel.

“I think that we have a good chance to play in the final of the Polish Cup. We will play the semi-final against Delecta BYDGOSZCZ, a team that we beat recently 3:0 at home in the national league. It will be a good challenge for us. It’s a bit disappointing that the victory in the Polish Cup will not turn into a spot to automatically compete in the 2014 CEV Volleyball Champions League but still it’s a trophy that counts. We have a good opportunity to win the Polish Cup and I’m confident that we will be fighting for it” says Paul Lotman, Asseco Resovia outside hitter.

“We are also looking forward to the Playoffs 12 duel with Lube Banca Marche MACERATA in the CEV Volleyball Champions League as the first game in Rzeszow is coming up next Tuesday. We know that they are a really good team. Definitely they will do some things in order to hamper our play but I think that we are well prepared mentally to this clash. It’s not going to be easy because they have a lot of strong and world-class players. I’m sure that it’s going to be high level Volleyball and it should be exciting to play such games not only for the supporters but also for us” concludes the US American spiker.
